A 35-year-old woman was fatally slashed with a broken bottle while defending her boyfriend from a violent mob during a chaotic, caught-on-video brawl early Sunday outside a Bronx nightclub.
The chaos broke out just after 4 a.m. outside the Mama Dora club on East Kingsbridge Road when two groups began fighting as the bar was closing, according to law enforcement sources and witnesses.
As punches flew, one man — identified by locals as the woman’s husband — fell to the ground, prompting her to step in and shield him from his attacker, witnesses said.
That’s when she was stabbed — the deadly attack captured on surveillance footage.
A woman’s hair extension and shards of glass were left scattered across the sidewalk after the violent clash.
“They were fighting, and they were all outside,” said a man who witnessed the brawl. “[The victim] came out with her husband, then the other guys came out, too.”
“That’s when the two groups started fighting,” added the witness, who asked to remain anonymous. “She stepped in to keep them from reaching her husband, and that’s when she got stabbed.”
Another bystander said the attacker used a broken bottle to deliver the fatal wound before the group fled the scene. As of Sunday afternoon, police had made no arrests, and shattered glass still covered the sidewalk.
Authorities said the victim, whose name has not been released, suffered “multiple stab wounds” to the chest.
She was placed in a private vehicle and rushed to BronxCare Health Systems before being transferred to Lincoln Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead, police said.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured much of the chaos. The dramatic video shows a man in a yellow jacket jumping around frantically, then lunging forward and stabbing the woman before his friends appear to pull him away.
A witness said the violent scene left him stunned.
“There’s not much left in the world,” he said. “I have nothing else to say. They need to find God.”
